My Self-Care Journey and a Little Magic ✨

It all begins with an idea.

Self-care has been a journey for me—one that’s constantly evolving but always necessary. For a long time, I thought self-care was something extravagant, reserved for when I had extra time (which, let’s be honest, rarely happens). But I’ve come to realize it’s about the small, intentional things I do every day to pour back into myself.

For me, it’s the rhythm of my favorite music filling the room, grounding me when life feels chaotic. It’s long baths that let me exhale the stress of the day, soaking in warmth and stillness. It’s journaling—putting my thoughts to paper to process, dream, and let go. And it’s walking through the park, reconnecting with nature and finding beauty in simplicity. These are the moments that keep me going, reminding me that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated; it just has to be yours.

And then there’s the magic.

That’s That Magic. My beautiful sister-friend Alisha Michelle created an oil that truly lives up to its name. It’s not just a product—it’s an experience. The way it feels on my skin, the way the scent instantly shifts my mood—it’s like self-care in a bottle. Scents and smells have always affected my mental space, and this oil is pure magic. It nourishes the body and soothes the soul, leaving me feeling renewed every time I use it.

If you’re looking for something to add to your self-care routine, That’s That Magic is a game-changer. Trust me, it’s worth every drop. You can check it out for yourself at www.thatsthatmagic.com or https://a.co/d/35rnUuZ (Amazon)

Self-care doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. It’s about finding what works for you, what restores you, and what brings you joy. For me, it’s music, journaling, long baths, walks in the park, and a little bit of magic.

What does self-care look like for you? Let’s share and grow together.

With love and light,

Ebony

What is Self-care?

It all begins with an idea.

Self-care. It’s a term we hear everywhere, but what does it really mean? What does self-care look like when life is chaotic, when you’re juggling responsibilities, or when you’re so focused on others that you forget about yourself? Let’s take a moment to unpack this because self-care doesn’t look the same for everyone—and that’s the beauty of it.

Self-Care Is Personal

For some, self-care is quiet mornings with a cup of tea and a favorite book. For others, it’s a 30-minute walk to clear their mind, or saying “no” to commitments that don’t serve their peace. Self-care can be physical, like working out or eating nutritious meals. It can also be mental, like setting boundaries, attending therapy, or journaling your thoughts to process your day.

The important thing is to recognize that self-care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s deeply personal. It’s about knowing yourself and honoring what you need—whether that’s rest, movement, creativity, or connection.

It’s Not Always Pretty

Self-care doesn’t always look like an Instagram-worthy bubble bath with candles. Sometimes, self-care looks like cleaning up your space to clear your mind. It looks like having hard conversations that set boundaries or walking away from relationships that no longer serve you. Self-care might look like doing the dishes, sticking to your budget, or going to bed early instead of staying up late scrolling on your phone.

The truth is, self-care isn’t always glamorous, but it is always worth it.

Everyday Acts of Self-Care

Here are some simple ways to incorporate self-care into your daily life:

Morning Routines: Start your day with intention. Whether it’s meditation, stretching, or just taking a few deep breaths, give yourself time before the world pulls you in every direction.

Pause and Reflect: Take a moment in the middle of your day to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? What do you need?

Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge your progress, no matter how small. Finished that task you’ve been putting off? That’s a win.

Protect Your Peace: Say “no” when you need to. Your time and energy are valuable, and it’s okay to prioritize yourself.

Stay Connected: Self-care doesn’t have to mean solitude. Spending time with people who uplift you is just as nourishing.

Redefining Self-Care

Self-care isn’t about perfection or checking off a list. It’s about being kind to yourself, listening to your needs, and making space for what fills your cup. It’s about understanding that you are deserving of care and compassion—just like anyone else.

So, I ask you: What does self-care look like for you? Is it time spent in silence, a favorite playlist on repeat, or reaching out to your village for support? Whatever it is, lean into it unapologetically.

Remember, self-care isn’t selfish. It’s essential.

With love,

Ebony

Welcome to Soul Sessions

It all begins with an idea.

Welcome to Soul Sessions, a space where we reflect, connect, and grow together. For my first post, I want to dive into something we often overlook in the hustle of life: self-care and the village that helps us thrive.

Self-Care Is Not Selfish

Let’s start with the truth many of us need to hear: taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s necessary. In a world that constantly demands more of us—whether it’s at work, home, or in our communities—we often forget that we can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care isn’t just spa days and bubble baths (although those are great too); it’s about doing the things that restore your mind, body, and spirit. It’s about listening to what you need and making space for that.

For me, self-care looks like moments of stillness before the day begins, journaling my thoughts, and setting boundaries that protect my peace. It also looks like community—leaning on the people in my life who pour into me just as I pour into them.

The Village Matters

Which brings me to the village. No one does it alone. Self-care is personal, but thriving requires a collective effort. Think about it: in every stage of life, there are people who play a role in holding us up—family, friends, mentors, neighbors. The village isn’t just about who’s physically around you; it’s about the people who believe in you, show up for you, and remind you of your worth when you’ve forgotten it yourself.

Building your village means surrounding yourself with people who align with your goals, values, and vision for life. It means letting go of relationships that drain you and focusing on those that nourish you. And most importantly, it means asking for help when you need it. There’s no shame in leaning on your village—it’s what they’re there for.

Thriving Together

Self-care and the village go hand in hand. When we take care of ourselves, we show up as better versions of who we are—for our families, our friends, and our communities. And when we allow others to support us, we multiply our capacity to give back.

So, as you reflect on your own self-care practices, ask yourself:

• Are you making time for what fills your cup?

• Who’s in your village, and how are they helping you thrive?

• How can you show up for yourself and your village this week?

This journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress, balance, and grace. Let’s remember that thriving isn’t something we do alone; it’s something we do together.

Let me know in the comments: What does self-care look like for you? And who’s in your village of support? Let’s start this conversation and keep the energy flowing.

With love and light,

Ebony
